Declan Nystoruk celebrated his seventh birthday learning to ice fish, with a big thanks to his big brother Justice who showed him how. Declan is pictured here showing the first fish he caught, and by the end of the day he had also caught the most fish.

Empowering seniors in the North Thompson Valley:Carpet bowling welcomes new participants

Carpet bowling is a popular sport with 55+ residents in the North Thompson Valley due to active groups in Barriere, Little Fort and Clearwater. The Provincial Carpet Bowling Championships were hosted last year in the communities of Little Fort and Barriere with great response and a good time was had by all. Teams finishing in top placings came from Little Fort, Barriere, Smithers, Vancouver Island, Kamloops, 100 Mile House, Prince George, and Fraserr Lake.

The communities of Heffley Creek, Vinsulla and McLure are stepping up to support the outdoor rink at Heffley Creek this winter. Over the years this rink has been a favourite in the area for outdoor skating and hockey enthusiasts, but continues to be an annual struggle to sustain and maintain it due to a severe lack of funding.
