Successful repairs are reported as having been completed to the Agate Bay Boat Launch on Adams Lake, which is regularly used by recreational boaters during the spring and summer months. The site is owned and operated by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD).

The Clearwater Speedway was closed for 15 years before local volunteers spent many hours to bring it back into operation in 2020. The track re-opened July of last year to an excited crowd. But, the track was soon closed once again, due to COVID-19 restrictions and nearby forest fires.

The Barriere Elementary School Boys Basketball Team won the Tier 2 Boys City Championship held March 6, which culminated an amazing undefeated season thanks to hard work, great coaching and support from all involved. The local organization received $5,000 from Ski-Doo P.A.S.S.

Yellowhead Horse 4-H Club members participated in their monthly meeting on March 15, at the North Thompson Agriplex in Barriere where they had the opportunity to learn about ‘Horse Chiropractic and Acupressure Massage’ with guest speaker Christine Westerveld.

Barriere Skatepark advocate Dustin Doherty announced last Saturday, Mar. 26, that the dream has now become a reality in 2022.

The March 19, Barriere Curling Fun Bonspiel was a skins format one day resounding success, with participants coming from Kamloops, Clearwater, Williams Lake, and Sorrento to take part.

After two years of shut downs due to COVID-19 health regulations the sun certainly came out the weekend of March 19-20 when the gates at the North Thompson Fall Fairgrounds in Barriere opened up and livestock trailers started arriving in readiness for the BC Team Cattle Penning Association’s Double Header event at the North Thompson Agriplex.
