Yellowhead Community Services hosting this one hour session for parents and caregivers June 17

Thanks to the Thompson Nicola Regional District and TNRD Area ‘O’ Gas Tax funding, the Light Horse Arena at the North Thompson Fall Fairgrounds in Barriere will be getting a new sprinkler system.

The North Thompson Activity Centre (NTAC), located at the Barriere Ridge, seeks your support for its newest endeavour. After having provided care for Barriere’s children after school, and through its summer camps, as well as offering facilities for a wide range of activities within its facility at the Ridge for years now, we look to meet the needs of the adults/seniors (children of all ages) within the region for a fitness centre.

The evening of Monday, June 3, just after 7 p.m., a tractor trailer unit landed on its side across both lanes of traffic on Highway 5, just south of the Barriere Esso Station.The highway was closed both ways until just after 9 p.m. when it opened to one lane alternating traffic. The tractor was towed from the scene and the semi then pushed onto the roadside which opened both lanes. The driver reportedly had minor injuries and was transported to Royal Inland Hospital by ambulance.

Thirty students in the Barriere Secondary Class of 2019 participated in graduation ceremonies on Friday, May 24, in the Barriere Curling Rink.

The wind-down of the operation will start June 4

On May 29, 2019, Gilbert Smith Forest Products Ltd . (GSFP) celebrated over one-year accident free in their sawmill, and 17 years accident free in the Woodlands department with employees, retirees, and friends at the company’s annual safety barbecue at their Barriere sawmill.

Clearwater Farmers Market is marking two decades of operation this year

The North Thompson Show and Shine filled the lawns at Sam’s Pizza and Rib House on Sunday, May 26, in Barriere.

The Barriere Fire Hall was filled with young voices on May 23 when Ms. Young’s Kindergarten class from Barriere Elementary was given a tour. Fire Chief Ashley Wohlgemuth said, “The youngsters were full of great questions and excited to sit in the firetrucks.”
