North Thompson sevens rugby team has a 16-0 record so far this season

There will be 2,400 athletes, 400 coaches, and countless supporters in Langley this weekend.

It seems that I blinked and missed Spring. We almost went straight from Winter to Summer. Heh, I am not complaining. The weather is beautiful. 42 ladies turned out on May 15, and thoroughly enjoyed the warmer temperatures. After dinner on the patio, the fine folks at Chinook Cove Golf Course unveiled the 2018 clothing line. We all enjoyed the styles and colours and a few of us picked up something new to wear the next time we head out for a round.

The North Thompson Spartans Senior Sevens rugby team, comprised of players from both Barriere and Clearwater Secondary, played in the division finals at Clearwater Secondary School on Thursday afternoon, May 17.

The BC High School Rodeo provided plenty of action and thrills in the Dick Ross Memorial Arena at the North Thompson Fall Fairgrounds in Barriere on the weekend of May 12. Youngsters attended from many areas of the province to compete in numerous events based on the working cowboy life, while embracing ‘the cowboy way’ that has been a part of farming and ranching for generations in this province.

Lori Rankin blasts out from behind the third barrel for a fast run home during the BC Barrel Racers Association Member’s Only Races held at the North Thompson Agriplex in Barriere over the May 12 weekend. The event was well attended with two days of fast barrel racing action and impressive times.

We’re back. I missed the first ladies night on the April 24, but 44 ladies were there to begin the 2018 season. I hear the weather was wonderful.

It was a challenging year for the entire province last year. We discussed not running the 2017 tournament given the incredible devastation from the floods and fires that ran for months.
