Fish and Game Poker Run “time well spent”

The first annual Poker Run held May 25, 2019, and hosted by the North Thompson Fish &Game Club Society turned out to be a great success. Organizers say they were extremely happy that the event “turned out better than planned”, with over 85 people in attendance.

The Barriere and District Riding Club held their first Buckle Series show at the North Thompson Agriplex in Barriere on May 18. It might have been raining outside but everyone was dry inside the Agriplex and all reports say they had a fun time. BDRC rep Darcey Woods commented on a social media post, “Great show today! Mother Nature tried to blow away Ladies’ Night last Tuesday (Apr. 30), but 26 brave ladies hung in there and had a fun time. Most of us had warm clothes on. Debbie Rainer even broke out the earmuffs while I had my gloves on. We did have supper in the clubhouse rather than brave the patio.

The Barriere girls netball team braved a very cold and wet day on Saturday, April 27, in the Barriere Mall parking lot in front of AG Foods for a car wash fundraiser. They were also fundraising on the same day at the Barriere Curling Rink Spring Flea Market selling Purdys Chocolates. All funds raised are going to help with the travel costs to attend a netball tournament in Burnaby this month.
