Atom

The atom Cowichan Bulldogs played Victoria Spartans in Victoria this past weekend and it was a back and forth battle but in the end, Cowichan returned home the victors.

"We won our first game of the season, 22-12," confirmed head coach Tyler Gavin. "Our offence played great, scoring three touchdowns including a long run by Noah Atchison. The blocking on the play from Carter Thorne, Rowan McGarvey and Christian Murray were outstanding," Gavin added. "The best blocking I’ve seen in many years."

Defensively, the team held its own by getting multiple stops with great team tackling from Matthew Canute and Kohen Hack. Teagan Hale, on her birthday, had the game-winning fumble recovery and had an awesome game overall, said the coach.

The atom Bulldogs have an extra week to revell in their victory as it is their bye week. The following week they'll meet Nanaimo.

Peewee

The peewee Bulldogs had a bye this week and look to continue their undefeated season this coming weekend.

Junior Bantam
The junior bantam Cowichan Bulldogs' firepower was on display as they beat the Victoria Spartans 62-6 despite restraining their offence this past weekend.

"It was a good win for us," said head coach Opie Williams. The Spartans are struggling and we tried to make as many changes as possible so that we could keep growing the sport with these Victoria players.  We didn't allow any blitzing from our defence and we got some rookie players more playing time."

The Bulldogs had 16 points before their offence even saw the field. Kalem Thomas made a tackle for a loss which caused a fumble that he scooped and scored. He then took a short punt to the end zone.  He also made all the two-point converts.

"We did get a little sloppy, and allowed the Victoria Spartans to score their first touchdown of the season," Williams noted

The team's offence did manage to get on the field at the start of the second quarter.

Kasen Randhawa had a great run, almost running it into the end zone but just stepped out before he could extend the ball into the end zone. Ethan Jacques finished the job on a one-yard plunge.

Harrison Plaxton scored the next touchdown after making a cut back against the grain to run 35 yards.

Eli Atchison ran one in as the quarterback, and also passed one to Randhawa, who ran another 20 yards to score.

Charlie Freeman scored the next one and Atchison got the last one on the last play of the game.

The team has a bye next weekend but will play a rare night game on Wednesday against undefeated Westshore.
