Ecole Mark R. Isfeld Secondary hosted the High School AAA Ultimate Island Championship on May 6 and 7, with the Isfeld Ice making their debut appearance at the tournament.
It was the first time in its history that the Island Championship was held in the North Island.
The Isfeld team consisted of co-ed players from grades 8 to 12. The Isfeld Ice beat Esquimalt (10-9) and then Dover Bay (11-3 ). They battled hard against Oak Bay but ultimately lost the game (8-11).
Their final game of the tournament, for third place, was against Royal Bay of Victoria, which Isfeld lost (5-12).
"Isfeld Ice finished the tournament in a very respectable fourth place, a huge achievement, given this was their first appearance at Islands", said tournament director Rachel Welbourn.
The tournament organizers wish to thank all of the community volunteers, in particular Louis Lamb of Engel and Volkers for generously donating his time, providing field food and subsidizing jerseys.
