Take-home drug test strips another tool to prevent fentanyl overdoses

People in the Interior Health (IH) region have another tool to make safer choices about drug use. For some, the stigma or shame associated with seeking out substance use services can be a barrier to accessing the health system. Now, new take-home drug testing strips are available and offer an alternative to clients who previously had to come into supervised consumption sites or community health centres to check their drugs.

Students and adults of all ages were captivated by magic at Barriere Elementary on Jan. 29 when a fun filled and action packed 45 minute magic entertainment show took place in the school’s gymnasium. Magician Leif Davis with his Ali K. Zam Productions provided everything required for the performance which wowed both children and adults. The show had everyone interacting, participating, and engaged in the comedy and magic.

Barb Buchanan has recently retired from School District No.73 after 31 years as a Certified Education Assistant, working with disabled and special needs children at all the schools in Barriere (including the Barriere Ridge) during those years. She has spent the last 20 years of her employment at Barriere Secondary.
