Barbara MacManus sent the following letter due to concerns both herself and residents living on Westsyde Road north of the McLure Ferry have been reporting regarding the condition of that road.
“Numerous people have phoned Argo Road Maintenance and the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure over recent years to no avail,” advised MacManus. “There are only about 25 houses up there with approximately three to five people per place. The bulk of the traffic are tourists, recreation, pipeline and when there is an accident north of the ferry even buses have come down that road. There is also a certain amount of traffic with the moving of livestock.”

Re: Maintenance of Westsyde Road north of McLure Ferry
In accordance with the mandate of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to maintain and improve the Provincial road systems I have some serious concerns with the road maintenance of the road north of the McLure Ferry through to Barriere, B.C.
I have lived in this area since 1986 and have to travel on this road on a regular basis to and from Kamloops. The conditions have deteriorated considerably due to the pipeline construction through the area.
Many residents have contacted Argo Road maintenance with little or no cooperation.
Here are some of the concerns with this road:
· Severe pot holes throughout the road.
· Two sections of the road have fallen away on the riverside and do not have any markers or warning signs.
· Whitewood Creek Bridge and the road have potholes, and dirt is falling away from the bridge and the dirt road.
· Due to the high number of ATV traffic in this area there is a need for speed limit signs to control their activity.
· The Barriere Ambulance has complained that road conditions make it hard for them to reach many of the seniors living along this road.
Your immediate attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.
