B.C. Wildfire in Cariboo Chilcotin grows to 550 hectares

Initial attack crews and a unit crew continue to remain on site and additional resources will be mobilized Saturday (May 3rd) morning.

Update:

The Anah Lake wildfire has been listed as under control by BC Wildfire Service.

Dewar Lake wildfire is listed as being held, while the Alexis Creek wildfire is listed as out of control.

However, the Alexis Creek wildfire is still listed as being out of control.

Update:

The wildfire burning near Alexis Creek is now measured at 550 hectares as of 8:58 p.m. Friday, May 2.

It is located south of the 6400 Road, seven kilometres north of Tl'etinqox First Nation.

BC Wildfire says due to dry and windy conditions the wildfire has grown and continues to display rank 3 fire behaviour.

Initial attack crews and a unit crew continue to remain on site and additional resources will be mobilized Saturday (May 3rd) morning. Heavy equipment will be working throughout the night to establish containment lines around the fire. 

Another fire is burning east of Anah Lake, north of Alexis Creek.

It is estimated to be 52 hectare as of Friday evening.

An out of control wildfire has been spotted near Alexis Creek, 113 km west of Williams Lake, 

Wildfire C50222, which is around 15 hectares in size, was discovered on May 2, BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says. BCWS suspects the fire to be human-caused. BCWS staff and firefighting personnel are responding to the wildfire.

A second fire in the region is listed near Dewer Lake east of Williams Lake, discovered May 2 as well. It is .6 hectares in size, with the cause human-caused listed by BC Wildfire Service.
