Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality remained on evacuation alert as of Tuesday, July 13, for all properties within the municipal boundary due to the potential threat of the nearby Embleton Mountain wildfire.

Thanks to sharp eyed members of the public spotted a fire starting to take hold in a heavily treed area above Chinook Cove just north of Barriere on Monday, July 12, just before 2 p.m.

Over 110 properties have been issued an evacuation order by the TNRD.
