On April 7, Barriere Secondary and Elementary students participated in the Day of Sucwentwécw at their schools. The day is an annual initiative held on the same day each year, to recognize and celebrate the Secwépemc People (Secwepemcúl’ecw) and other Aboriginal people residing within the Secwépemc Territory.

Barriere’s Spring Clean Up day took place on Sunday, April 10, with pleasant weather and approximately 25 enthusiastic volunteers who turned out with great community spirit and pride to take part in a town-wide clean-up that coincided with Pitch-In-Week.

The morning of Sunday, April 10, was clear, cold and crisp, the perfect day for eight firefighters dressed in full gear to set out at approximately 10:30 a.m. from the Barriere fire hall to walk a 10 km route through the community of Barriere.

The Barriere Elementary School Boys Basketball Team won the Tier 2 Boys City Championship held March 6, which culminated an amazing undefeated season thanks to hard work, great coaching and support from all involved.
