The 4th Annual FREE Community Christmas Dinner presented by Barriere and Area Chamber of Commerce truly outdid itself this year.
Meal organizer Laura Mairs reported a whopping grand total of 225 Christmas dinners were delivered by 11 teams throughout Barriere and area on Christmas Day.
“The Lions Hall was buzzing as we packaged the meals,” reported Mairs after the event, “Then the meals were placed into large paper bags which had been decorated by students at the elementary school, then the delivery folks packed the goodies and the bags into boxes, and off they went out the door and on their way.”
Mairs says the delivery people consisted of 11 volunteer teams, “They did an amazing job in getting all of those 225 meals delivered in time for Christmas dinner.”
The dinner menu certainly provided more than enough to enjoy all of the tastes of the season.
“Turkey, dressing, gravy, ham, potatoes, yams, carrots, turnips, cranberry sauce, buns, pumpkin pie with whipped cream,” reported Mairs, “I may have missed something, but if so, maybe it was a surprise!”
Organizers of the dinner send a heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in bringing this event to its grand conclusion, with special recognition to Barriere and Area Chamber of Commerce, Barriere IDA, Barriere Food Bank, Barriere Lions Club, First Quantum Minerals, and Armour Mountain Bookkeeping & Tax Services Inc.
