These days and these times, many of us feel we have to do something to adapt to climate changes. It is colder than usual, or hotter and drier, or it is wet when the ground is supposed to be frozen over. There are “unprecedented” severe weather events to be ready for.

The history of candy canes goes back 350 years

It was about 350 years ago that candy makers were making hard white sugar sticks to enjoy. These were loved by many and this type of confection soon became a popular favorite. If you are not used to many sweets, then it would probably be a treat. When the trees were starting to become part of celebrations, they were decorated often with food items probably mostly cookies and treats, possibly including some of these sugar sticks.

Most of us are looking forward to celebrating with our family and friends over the upcoming holidays. For some of us that means the traditional Christmas celebrations. Trees, Santa, gifts, Nativity and caroling. Possibly some food. There are many other festivals and holidays around the world during the fall/winter season.
