Vernon pro Kyla Inaba pocketed third-place prize money at the PGA of BC Women's Golf Championship, held June 23 and 24, at Victoria's Cordova Bay Golf Course.

Inaba, from Predator Ridge Golf Resort, fired rounds of three-over-par 74, and two-over 73 to finish at 5-over, five shots behind the winner, Jaya Rampuri, from the Riverway Golf Course in Burnaby. Inaba collected $700. Rampuri won the top prize of $1,350.

Christine Wong from the Savage Creek Golf Course in Richmond was second at 3-over 145. She won $1,000.

Jessica Claggett from West Kelowna's Two Eagles Golf Course and Academy finished tied for fourth with Diana McDonald of the University Golf Club in Vancouver at plus-seven. Both golfers won $550.

A field of 16 took part.

The same course hosted the PGA of BC Senior Mens championship with Claggett's dad, Dean Claggett of Predator Ridge, ending up in a three-way tie for 15th spot. Dad shot rounds of 76-75 to finish at 9-over 151, good for a $300 cheque.

Top Okanagan golfer was Rob Anderson from the Kelowna Golf and Country Club. He was in a four-way tie for seventh place at six-over, winning $675.

The 36-hole event was captured by Douglas Morgan of the Richmond Country Club, who shot a two-day total of 3-under-par 139, good for $2,600. Morgan was a two-shot winner over Bryn Parry from the Seymour Creek Golf Course in North Vancouver. They were the only two golfers in the field of 46 to finish under par.

Chad McAdie from the Cheam Mountain Golf Course in Chilliwack was third at even-par 142, good for a $1,250 cheque.

Former Predator Ridge pro Cory Draper, now working out of the Capilano Golf and Country Club in West Van, finished in a tie for 31st place with rounds of 79-83. Dean Kuntz from the Pitt Meadows Golf Club – who won a Centennial Cup Canadian Junior A Hockey Championship as a goalie with the Vernon Lakers in 1990 – shot 83-86 to finish 41st.

And Vernon native Brian O'Keefe, who now teaches at the Shuswap Lake Golf Course in Blind Bay, near Salmon Arm, fired 88-87. O'Keefe, Kuntz, and Draper finished out of the money.
