The North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association (NTFFRA)has received $25,000 from the B.C. government’s community gaming grant program. The grant will be used for the association’s annual fall fair and rodeo held in Barriere on the Labour Day weekend.
“This grant supports the fall fair and rodeo’s 66th year celebrating agriculture in the North Thompson region,” Kamloops-North Thompson MLA Terry Lake said. “This long-standing community event brings many visitors to Barriere, with more than 10,000 people supporting local businesses during their visit.”
“We really appreciate this financial support,” said NTFFRA president Jill Hayward, “It annually costs us at least $20,000 to start up the fair, long before we even open the gates. This grant helps immensely.”
About $7 million in grants is being distributed this month to approximately 200 sport and arts and culture groups around the province.
The community gaming grant program allows non-profit organizations to apply for provincial gaming revenues to support direct delivery of a program that benefits the broader community.
