LETTER: How could Poilievre even entertain a plastic-filled future?

'How can he reconcile this plan with the dangerous impact it will have on his children?'

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre speaks at a press conference in Osoyoos on April 5, 2025.

Re: Conservative Party of Canada - Mr. Poilievre's Plan to Reverse the Ban on Plastics

After Canadians have responded positively and widely to replacing plastics with other non-hazardous products, I cannot understand why the leader of the Conservative Party would ever entertain reversing this ban.

Research has shown that plastics are dangerous pollutants that have now entered our food chain through our ocean, the water we drink and the things that we eat.

Microplastics have entered our brains, livers and kidneys and accumulate because our bodies do not eliminate them.  Any minimal cost savings that might come from this plan will be more than offset by increased medical costs and we know that healthcare is already a large and growing part of both the federal and provincial budgets.

Lastly, as Mr. Poilievre is a father, how can he reconcile this plan with the dangerous impact it will have on his children?
