Family desperately hoping to find their collie dog Forrest

The Minci family is asking residents for their help in finding their beloved family dog, Forrest as winter weather arrives in the North Thompson Valley.

A family in the North Thompson Valley is desperately hoping to find their dog Forrest, a 2 year old healthy collie who when last seen on Sunday Nov. 10 was in well groomed condition.

Forrest is the beloved Minci family member and playmate for 9 year old Jacob and 6 year old Bridget. When Black Press spoke with mom, Lexi on Sunday, Nov. 24 she said, "We believe there have been a few sightings recently not far from the house he went missing from. We are in the middle of a move from the Pump Town Road area of Clearwater to Raft River. On Saturday, Nov. 23 a lady reportedly saw a dog fitting his description, except looking what she described as being dirty and afraid near Blackwater Creek. I'm worried as the weather is getting colder and he may be disoriented and scared. It's important that if someone sees him they don't frighten him and contact us or the Clearwater Humane Society right away. We are asking residents if they would please take a little extra time to check outbuildings where he may seek shelter and to spread the word. We are offering a reward and we just want Forrest home again."

Lexi's voice breaks when she speaks about the beloved family pet, obviously emotional and in the middle of a move miles away from where Forrest first went missing. She adds, "We were playing outside in the yard and suddenly he was gone. We called and called, then began searching."

Forrest is described as "rough collie brown with white long hair" and although "well groomed" he may now be dirty and thinner in appearance.

Young Jacob speaks with sadness about his furry friend, "I just want him to come home. I miss him a lot especially when I get home from school and he would jump up happy to see me. I love him."

Younger sister, Bridget agrees, speaking softly, "I miss him a lot. I want him to come home."

The family has had support from neighbours, family, friends and strangers out searching for Forrest with direction from the Clearwater Humane Society (CHS). On the CHS Facebook page they have asked for people to search but to be prepared as the weather changes posting, "Be prepared for winter weather conditions."

If you think you have seen Forrest please contact the Clearwater Humane Society immediately at: 778-220-6753  or email: clearwaterhumane@gmail.com
