Record 31 putts takes a prize at Ladies Golf

“But baby, the rain must fall. Baby, the wind must blow. Wherever my heart leads me, Baby, I must go. Baby, I must go.” With these Glenn Yarborough lyrics buzzing through my head I took to the golf course on Tuesday night, June 21, for a game of golf with my buddies. Linda Ransome (deserted by her usual group because of the rain) joined us for a most enjoyable visit.

I am certainly not finding fault with Linda’s usual group because they did weather (and I mean weather) the storm a couple of weeks ago while I sat warm and cosy in the clubhouse.

Chip Ins were the shot of the day and the pot was won in every flight. Winners were Karen Peterson, Lorie Chambers, Audrey Rilcoe, Brenda Carl and Rose Seymour. Donna Salle in Flight 1 had two birdies to take that pot. Jeannie Webber was the putting guru and used only 13 putts to win the Least Putt prize by retro. Kate Schilling scored a record 31 putts to take the Most Putt prize. Hey, if you are going to do something you should do it well.

Low gross and net were sponsored by Ainsley Gullage of Sunlife Financial, Kelly McNabney of TriPeaks Physio and Salle Ranch. The gross winner in Flight 1 with a score of 41 was Teresa Young and Karen Peterson took the low net with a score of 44 (35). In Flight 2 Cathy Paul had a 49 to win low gross and Debbie Rainer had a 51 (35.5) to win low net by retro. In a stunning surprise Leslie Stirling won low gross in Flight 3 with a score of 53 while Jeannie Webber scored 55 (36) to win low net by retro. Low gross in Flight 4 was Sue Meger with a 60 and second low gross was Rose Seymour with a 62. And yes, Debbie Rainer was excited about the number of retros.

Putting and driving and KPs won prizes for the following folks: Dorothy Warman (Station House Restaurant), Terri Jones (Rainer Custom Cutting, Deb Winiski (Thompson Valley Awards), Jamie Mosdel (AG Foods), Marian Wallace (Cindy Leibel, Realtor), Debbie Rainer (MJB Lawyer and Stamer Logging), Theresa Young (Armour Mountain Office and Munro’s Clothing), Cathy Paul (Barriere Motor Inn), Marie Hakes (Barriere Timber Mart), Rose Seymour (Little Fort Subway and Quality Contractors), Donna Salle (The Smiths and HUB International), Babes Shanko (The Carls), Emma Schilling (Campbell & Co.) and Kate Schilling (EBL Ventures). I think every article should have a little mystery so I will leave it to the reader to decide who won for what. (I think Who is on first)

Leslie Stirling reminded folks that she will be passing out the pledge sheets for our annual Cancer Fund Raiser which will be held on Aug. 23. If you would like to pledge one of your favourite lady golfers make sure you tell her and if you would like a pledge sheet be sure to tell Leslie. There will be more information coming about the fund raiser but in the meantime mark it on your calendar and line up your team.

“I am not rich or famous but who can ever tell. I do not know what waits for me. May be heaven may be h*ll… which is just my usual golf game. And now may you enjoy the rest of your day with that earworm stuck in your head.

See you at the course.
