Ladies Golf at Chinook Cove Golf Resort with Leslie Stirling

The weather has been so beautiful lately that I need to keep reminding myself it is still spring!

Thirty-three ladies were pleased to spend a lovely Tuesday afternoon golfing on June 6. There was a time when June tended to be very wet.

We started out with four in our foursome (hence the name!), but sadly my cart partner Lynda had a wicked slip and fall on our second hole. I had word from her later in the week that nothing but her pride was damaged. Mend quickly, Lynda, and we will see you next Tuesday.

Quick quiz: Who are the four flight sponsors? Answer: Sundown Construction, Sun Life Financial (Steve Passmore), TriPeaks Physio (Kelly McNabney) and Quality Contractors.

Marla Muldoon won low gross in Flight 1 with a 42, while Donna Salle won low net with a 47 (34.5). Lorie Chambers scored a 53 to win low gross in Flight 2, and Debbie Rainer scored a 56 (40) to win low net.

In Flight 3, Joan Streadwick won low gross with a 52 and Emma Schilling scored 54 (34) to win low net by retro. Monica Lee scored 57 to win low gross in Flight 4, and Leisje Gough scored 58 to win second low gross. Flight 1 pots went to Susan Newberry (Deuce) and Marla Muldoon (Birdie).

Question #2: Who are the Hole-in-one sponsors? Answer: Bob Stirling (local artist), Barriere Auto Parts and Alpine Meadow Resort.

Warm weather (warm air) makes for some fantastic drives. Prizes for long drives went to Babes Shanko (Just U), Joan Streadwick (Rainer Custom Cutting) and Wanda Amos (Sam’s Pizza). KP prizes were picked up by Marian Wallace (Cindy Leibel Real Estate), Debbie Rainer (MJB Lawyer), Theresa Robinson (Stamer Logging), and Susan Newberry (the Smiths).

Liesje Gough (EBL Ventures), Donna Salle (Barriere IDA) and Evelyn Lucas (Barriere Motor Inn) won prizes for KP in 2. The Perfect Purple People Putting were Susan Newberry (The Local of Louis Creek Artisan Market), Lorie Chambers (Thompson Valley Awards), Kate Shilling (AG Foods) and Deb Winiski (Blue Moon Galeria).

Jeannie Webber won the Station House Restaurant certificate for Accuracy. Our putt sponsor is Anonymous (thank you for your support). Jamie Mosdell had the least putts with 14, while Cathy McNeil had the most with 28.

Question #3: What prizes were not won this week? Answer: HUB International, Salle Ranch, the Carls (Brenda and Brian), Campbell & Co, and Barriere Timber Mart. The cash prizes went to additional door prizes and the certificate will be used next week.

I didn’t win any golfing prizes but I did win a humongous jar of cashews as a door prize, which made both Bob and myself very happy.

Final Question: Who are the sponsors I haven’t already mentioned? Answer: Chinook Cove Golf (door prize) and the ronaldomanosa (advertising sponsor). The ronaldomanosa also publishes my golf column, which can sometimes be quite a meandering jumble of words.

Remember to thank our sponsors when you see them. We will see you next week at the course.
