The Barriere Jr. Girls basketball team travelled to Williams Lake for the Columneetza Queens of the Court Junior Girls Basketball Tournament hosted on January 17 and 18.
They were among eight teams from around British Columbia that competed.
The other teams were from Vanderhoof, Princeton, Bella Coola, 100 Mile House, Quesnel, Hope and the host team - Williams Lake.
The Barriere Jr. Girls Cougars worked hard to win their first two games, to reach the final game. Led by captains Bianca Genaille, Charlie Crosman, and Sophie Wright, the team played well and fought hard but lost to Hope in the final by just four points.
"As coaches, Travis Repka and I are very proud of our second place finish and the growth all of our athletes showed over just three games," Coach Rachael Bowser told Black Press, "We can’t wait to see how they’ll continue to grow over the next few weeks of their season."
Their next tournament sees them at home in Barriere for the Jr. Girls Cougar Classic taking place January 31 and February 1, Bowser added.
