Barriere Secondary School hosted teams from Brock, Norkam, and Westsyde April 30 for the BSS girls' rugby tournament.

Barriere Secondary School (BSS) hosted girls' high school rugby teams from Brocklehurst, North Kamloops, and Westsyde on April 30.

BSS coach, Travis Repka said, “This was the first time in two decades that Barriere has hosted girls' rugby, and the games were so exciting for all involved," said BSS coach Travis Repka.

"The Barriere First Responders Society and BC Paramedics volunteered to stand by as First Aid for the event, and we are so grateful for their support.”

Repka says the credit goes to coach Rae Bowser for having “the vision to rekindle” the girls' rugby program at BSS, with the team now in its third season.

“The girls really would like to thank their coaches, Rae Bowser, Carla Jensen, and Kelsey Harpman. Our school and the whole community is forever thankful for the time, effort and passion that Rae has put into this program!”
