Barriere pickleball club invites new members

The Barriere Pickleball Club is welcoming those interested in checking out the popular sport during the winter at The Ridge in Barriere.

The newly independent Barriere Pickleball Club accepted a cheque for $1,523.00 from the Barriere Outdoor Society on Monday, Nov. 25 in support of the club establishing itself in the North Thompson Valley.

Club president Julie Biller said the pickleball club was under the umbrella of the Outdoor Society, but has separated and become its own club.

"We are now affiliated with Pickleball Canada and Pickleball BC," Biller said. "We are really excited about becoming involved with such great organizations."

On behalf of the club, Biller thanked the Barriere Outdoor Society for their continued support and generosity over all the years of the local pickleball association.

"As the Barriere Pickleball Club ventures out on our own, we also say thank you for your generous donation of three indoor nets, paddles and balls and for the funds given to help get us started."

The president added the club currently has 29 signed members and welcomes anyone interested in joining to contact them.

Pickleball takes place at The Ridge in Barriere on Mondays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. during the winter season.
