Barriere Curling Club ready to rock for another season

The Barriere Curling Club is rocking once again for the 2024-25 season.

The Barriere Curling Club (BCC) is going full speed ahead with a variety of events and "rocking with a full house" reports  Bernice Randrup.

"The excitement is mounting as the 2024-25 season opens with nearly a full slate of curlers ready to go. After a few hiccups that delayed the season start-up the issues have been resolved and the ice is ready. The ice-making team, headed by Dale Moores worked long hours for the last three weeks flooding the ice in preparation. This is a tedious task that involves many people and it cannot be rushed.  We would like to thank Mark from the District of Clearwater for the use of their equipment and their assistance to streamline the ice installation," said Randrup.

The Wednesday League curling starts at 1:00 p.m. and the club member said there are still a few openings left, adding, "We hope folks will drop by to watch or register. Friday night curling starts at 7:00 p.m. and that roster is nearly full."

Both of these events end with a social and refreshments. The BCC encourages participation at a level players are comfortable with.

"We offer both Stick or Hack curling at your level," Randrup said. "If being a spectator is more your style, come on down on Wednesday or Friday for entertainment, fun and socializing."

Please contact the Barriere Curling Club for more information at: barrierecurlingclub@gmail.com to register or for event information.

The club is encouraging everyone to mark their calendars. The BCC has been awarded the B.C. Stick Curling Championship from February 5 to 9, 2025 at the Barriere Curling Arena at the North Thompson Fall Fair grounds. More details will be provided closer to the event.
