RCMP have provided more information about a home invasion that happened Thursday, Aug. 15 at a residence on Carson Drive in Williams Lake.

"It was reported that three unknown men had come into the home carrying machetes," said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson, NCO North District RCMP.

Saunderson said police immediately responded at 1:17 a.m. and called for the residents to exit the home.

"When the occupants left the home, one person was visibly injured," Saunderson said. "The victim was quickly taken to hospital by EHS for medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries."

A witness reported that the victim was dragged out of a bedroom and assaulted. The three suspects, described as dressed in all black and their faces covered, then fled on foot.

The investigation, while in the early stages is ongoing and police believe this to be isolated and targeted and do not feel there is any risk to the general public.
