The Sdiney-based cycling society has recently purchased the VeloPlus wheelchair transport bike and will be ready to take passengers this summer.

Wheelchair users in Sidney and Central Saanich will soon have the opportunity to experience the joy of cycling thanks to Cycling Without Age Society (CWAS).

The volunteer-run charity, which provides free cycle rides to those with limited mobility, has acquired a brand-new VeloPlus wheelchair transport bike.

This innovative bike is specifically designed to transport individuals who can remain seated in their own wheelchairs, opening up a new world of possibilities for those previously unable to participate in CWAS rides.

"For those of you restricted to a chair, we can now accommodate you," announced CWAS.

The organization anticipates launching the service in June, after completing comprehensive training for their volunteer "pilots" on safe passenger loading and operation.

To help in this crucial training, Mt. Newton Centre's Loan Cupboard has generously provided a wheelchair, enabling pilots to practise and master the necessary skills. CWAS emphasizes that this training is paramount in ensuring the safety and accessibility of cycling for all members of the community.
