The District of Barriere mayor Rob Kerslake and council honoured former mayor and MLA for Kamloops-North Thompson, Ward Stamer, on March 24 with a commemorative plaque for his many years of dedicated service to the area.
"Ward Stamer’s dedication to this community didn’t just begin with the District of Barriere – it started long before that," said Kerslake. "His service traces back nearly 30 years, beginning with the Barriere Improvement District where he played key roles on the water board and fire board. His commitment extended through the Lions Club and the Lower North Thompson Community Forest, always with the goal of bettering our town. For the District of Barriere, Ward served three terms as Councillor before stepping up as mayor for a term and a half. His leadership and passion for this community were evident every step of the way. Now, he has taken that dedication to an even greater stage, representing us as a Member of the Legislative Assembly. And if you ever heard Ward speak, you know the walls of the legislature must surely vibrate when he stands to make our voices heard. He speaks not just for Barriere, but for our entire region – amplifying our needs and ensuring we are noticed. Ward, we are proud to have you as our MLA. Thank you for your years of service, your unwavering commitment, and for always standing up for the people of this community.”
