A flash freeze warning has been issued for Sunday, Mar. 28, by Environment Canada for the North Thompson, warning of rapidly falling temperatures that could likely lead to icy surfaces tonight.
The warning advises that rain, gusty winds and mild temperatures will continue through the region today as a spring storm system passes through the BC Interior. Strong northerly winds are expected to develop later in the day as a cold front moves through the region, with the possibility in some areas of rain changing to snow in a short period of time, and accompanied by a rapid decline in temperatures.
Valley travelers and residents are advised to be cautious due to ponding water or slush that could freeze overnight, creating icy surfaces on highways, roads, walkways and parking lots.
Flash freeze warnings are issued when a rapid drop in temperature is expected that can cause water from rain or melted snow on streets and sidewalks to quickly freeze.
