UPDATE: Vernon water quality advisory rescinded

Less than 30 properties impacted by precautionary advisory

UPDATE March 18:

Vernon residents can safely drink from the taps again.

A precautionary water quality advisory issued Friday has now been rescinded.

"Bacterial testing results have come back clear and disinfection levels are within normal drinking water standards in the distribution system," the Regional District of North Okanagan said.

ORIGINAL March 14:

A water main break has resulted in a loss of water pressure and increased turbidity for some area residents.

Therefore a precautionary water quality advisory has been placed on the following addresses: 3409-3505 39th Ave., 3500 40th Ave., 3503 – 3519 40th Ave., and 3905-4006 35A St. (see map).

The break has been repaired, and flushing has occurred.

When the water service resumes, properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air.

"Please run a cold water tap until the water has cleared," the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) advise. "An outside tap is preferred."

The level of service and treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, some customers may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth.

Updates will be posted to www.rdno.ca/news (filter by Water Notices).

If you have any questions, contact the RDNO Utilities Department at 250-550-3700.
