UPDATE: Coldstream water quality advisory rescinded

11 properties issued precautionary advisory

UPDATE March 10:

With bacterial testing results coming back clear, and disinfection levels within normal drinking water standards, Interior Health and the RDNO rescinded the water quality advisory for some customers supplied by Greater Vernon Water at 7708 Coldstream Creek Road, and some portions of Meadow Road, Monday morning.

The advisory was issued Friday, March 7.

ORIGINAL STORY

Less than a dozen Coldstream properties are under a precautionary water quality advisory after a water main break in the area.

Portions of Meadow Road and 7708 Coldstream Creek Rd. are under the advisory, issued by the Regional District of North Okanagan in conjunction with Interior Health.

The water main break has resulted in a loss of water pressure and increased turbidity.

The break is being repaired and flushing will occur once the work is complete.

When the water service resumes properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air. Run a cold water tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap is preferred.

"The level of service and treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, some customers may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth," the RDNO advises.
