Barriere RCMP investigated a break and enter to a rural property on Saturday March 29, leading to a search warrant and recovery of several stolen items.
“On March 29, the Barriere RCMP were called to the 2100 block of Barriere Lakes Road in response to a reported break and enter," said Cpl. Kyle Camalush, detachment commander for the Barriere RCMP. "The suspects had apparently broken into a storage container on-site, stealing chainsaws, a welder and various building materials. Additionally, a black Ford F-150 was also stolen from the site. Through investigation, police were later able to recover the stolen Ford F-150.”
The corporal said “additional steps” led to a search warrant which was executed on March 30, 2025, at a property in Barriere where most of the stolen items were subsequently recovered.
Cpl. Camalush noted the Barriere RCMP remain focused on investigating these crimes and are committed to holding offenders accountable for their actions.
"We encourage all community members from the District of Barriere and Simpcw First Nation to contact our detachment to report similar instances or for information on how best to secure your property.”
The recovered property will be held as the investigation is ongoing and will be returned to the owner as soon as possible.
Charges are subject to the charge assessment process by the BC Prosecution Service.
