100 Mile House RCMP are reminding the public to stop for school buses after receiving complaints of incidents in recent weeks.
RCMP Sgt. Brian Lamb said on March 15, 2024, RCMP received a complaint from School District 27 regarding a vehicle that had failed to stop for a bus with flashing red lights on Easzee Drive and Hansen Crescent.
“After reviewing video footage from the bus, it was determined the vehicle did not attempt to stop and drove right through,” noted Lamb, adding children were leaving the bus at this time.
“The registered owner of the vehicle will be contacted and served a violation ticket. This is the second incident like this involving a bus in the 108 Mile Ranch in the last two weeks. RCMP would like to remind motorists to be aware of school buses that make frequent stops to pick up or drop off children in the 100 Mile House area.”
That same week two drivers were given violation tickets for going over the school zone speed limit, near 108 Mile Elementary. Lamb said the drivers were caught during a speed enforcement check stop conducted at Easzee Drive.
