Speed limit on Dixon Mountain Road now 50km

*Editor’s note: Residents living on Dixon Mountain Road east of Barriere have been campaigning for over a year to get the speed limit changed on their road from 80 km to 50 km due to numerous vehicles consistently traveling too fast for the conditions of this gravel road. Other road users, including horseback riders, pedestrians and farm equipment were constantly endangered when trying to utilize the roadway in their neighbourhood.
Westsyde Road North has been repaired

Westsyde Road North has been repaired

*Editor’s note: Westsyde Road between the McLure Ferry and Barriere had at least two sections where the shoulder was falling away on the river side, plus the road had a number of large potholes. Area residents were concerned, especially as there were no markers or warning signs in those areas. After a concerted effort on behalf of Barbara MacManus (which included letter writing to this newspaper ( Nov. 25, 2021 issue ), MacManus says she is happy to report the road has been repaired.
