The Barriere & Area Chamber of Commerce building can be found in the heart of the community across from Interior Savings Credit Union and kitty-corner to the post office. The organization was originally formed in the early 1980’s to encourage local economic stability and growth, promote the community and it’s quality of life, and represent the business community while also providing the means for dialogue among businesses and with the public.

It was only a few years ago when chiropractor Zacharry Paul moved to the Barriere area and opened the Backwoods Chiropractic clinic just off the Yellowhead Highway. At the time Paul stated he and his wife loved the area and were excited to be starting a new business, and setting up their own hobby farm in an area can take advantage of the winter sports they love.

Medical staff shortages have led to numerous closures of Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital’s emergency room, prompting residents of Clearwater and surrounding areas to wonder what will happen in an emergency.
