Chu Chua Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire in the community on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Fire Chief Ron Lampreau said they received a call about the fire at 8:06 a.m.

"It was a fully-involved structure fire," he said, adding the occupant living in the home got out safely, but the home was destroyed.

Barriere Fire Rescue was called in to help through a mutual aid agreement the two fire departments share, Lampreau said.

"Both fire departments were fighting the fire. Barriere first responders were also on scene taking vitals and baselines for both fire departments. RCMP were also on scene and I believe Emergency Health Services were on scene as well."

By noon the fire was extinguished fully and firefighters had cleared the scene.

Lampreau confirmed the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
