A two-vehicle head-on collision near 108 Mile Ranch led to significant damage to both vehicles on Sept. 5.

This incident was one of 93 calls to service Sgt. Brian Lamb said 100 Mile House RCMP responded to between Sept. 3 and Sept. 9.

Police attended the collision with emergency health services (EHS), where they found two vehicles with significant damage near 108 Mile Ranch. The RCMP say that single occupants from both vehicles were treated at the scene by EHS for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The collision was determined to have been caused by a vehicle travelling northbound, which had crossed the centre line and came into contact with a southbound vehicle. The RCMP do not believe impairment was a factor and believe that a sudden medical event to have been a contributing factor. The highway was blocked in both directions while the RCMP and EHS attended the scene, and following vehicle removal, the highway was reopened in both directions.

A single-vehicle collision was also reported to the RCMP  later that same day, this time on the 90 block of Highway 97. Upon attending, the RCMP said they determined a vehicle travelling northbound had gone off the road and struck a light pole.

There were no injuries to the driver and the RCMP believe that fatigue may have played a contributing factor in the incident rather than impairment.

Stolen property recovered

Three reports of theft were reported to the RCMP last week.

On Sept. 3, the RCMP received a report of a theft of a flat deck trailer taken from a worksite on Drewry Lake Forest Service Road. RCMP said that over the weekend, a 2018 18-foot flatdeck trailer with BC license plate 82323U carrying a 300-gallon water tank was taken from the site.

The tank was later recovered in a ditch approximately five kilometres away from where the trailer was taken. The trailer also contained a toolbox on the front which had stored a water pump and 200 feet of hose.

On Sept. 5, the RCMP received a report of a theft of a vehicle from a residence on the 3900 block of Highway 97. RCMP say that a red 1996 Ford F150 with BC license plate VF1457 was taken from the property at 11:00 p.m. on Sept. 4.

The vehicle was located at a parking lot on the 300 block of Highway 97, and the RCMP said that drug paraphernalia and other items were located inside that did not belong to the owner. RCMP say they have secured the vehicle for forensic examination.

Four days later, on Sept. 9, the RCMP responded to a report of a theft of a tractor from the 6000 block of Buffalo Creek Road. They believe that a 1974 John Deere tractor was taken from the property sometime after Sept. 5. After the report, the RCMP said that they located the tractor, abandoned in an area along Drewry Lake Forest Service Road.

Break and Enters

On Sept. 3, a report of an attempted break-and-enter was received by the RCMP on the 7000 block of Highway 24, where a business location was affected.

On Aug.31, it had been advised that two male youths had attempted to break into a locked location inside the building. On Sept. 2, another incident had allegedly occurred at the same location, where a picnic table was flipped and a shed door was kicked in.

The RCMP did not have a description of the suspects available at the time of this report.

On the same day, another report of a break and enter was received by the RCMP - this time to the residence on the 5000 block of Kallum Drive. RCMP said that an antique butter churner, an electric drill and a remote control for a satellite TV were taken. The RCMP do not know when the incident occurred.
