Paintings by members of the West Kootenay Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists will be featured at the Kootenay Gallery of Art in Castlegar from June 19 to July 12.
Juried pieces by several well-known gallery artists including Sandra Irvine, Sandra Donohue, Carol Retzlaff, and Abby Wilson are included in the exhibition.
In 1941, the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) was founded by a group of Canadian artists that included Lawren Harris, Emily Carr, Arthur Lismer, and A.Y. Jackson.
The West Kootenay Chapter of the FCA was created in May 2001. Today the WKC-FCA includes artists from the West and East Kootenays, the Okanagan, and Grand Forks.
The public is invited to the opening reception for Collective Visions on Thursday, June 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.. Guests are invited to vote for their favourite painting in the Peoples' Choice category and enjoy light refreshments.
The gallery, located at 120 Heritage Way, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
