Barriere SmokeEaters are thanking area residents “For the fantastic support” they received during the area’s Boot Drive for Muscular Dystrophy held last fall. They especially want to recognize four young boys (pictured above), who came in to the fire department with $29.15 in change that they had personally collected in the community.

The Barriere and District Chamber of Commerce is preparing for their seventh annual Silent Auction and second annual Business of the Year 2010 Awards on Saturday, Feb. 19, in the fall fair hall.

The Barriere Secondary School Grad Class of 2011 are busy with fundraising projects for the graduation celebrations this year.

One of the luxuries of living in Canada is we don’t usually spend a lot of time worrying about food.

“This year, for the first time, Barriere will have an Investors Group representative present at our Walk for Memories,” announced Liz Gilbertson, organizer of the Barriere Alzheimer’s Walk for Memories. “It is exciting news, as it is a positive reflection of the turnouts we’ve been getting in recent years.”

The Lower North Thompson Learning and Literacy co-ordinator Barb Gordon says they will be hosting a Barriere Health Fair at The Ridge on Saturday, Jan. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Station House Restaurant proprietor Jarek Kotlewski presented Barriere Hospice Society representative Jane Milburn with $400 in cash on Thursday, Jan. 6, at his establishment. The funds were accumulated at the restaurant over the Christmas season by the kind donations of the restaurant’s patrons and staff. All who donated money also entered their name into a draw; with the names of the resultant winners drawn by Hospice on Thursday.
