Winterfest filled with snowy fun and activities in Barriere

First annual Barriere Winterfest was a frolicking winter wonderland

The community of Barriere came together to celebrate everything ‘winter’ on Sunday (Dec. 10), as the snow continued to fall.

The day started with a delicious breakfast with Santa in the morning and concluded with the Christmas Tree light up.

Some of the events included kids Christmas shopping, bingo, a street hockey tournament, a snowboard clinic, the local library-sponsored scavenger hunt in Fadear Park – with a book and candy cane hunt –, the high school Christmas tree sale, gingerbread house building, hayrides and plenty of great Christmas caroling.

Snowy activities were fun for all ages with snowmen creations in the park, sledding and snowshoeing.

Local businesses offered discounts and treats for shoppers at various locations throughout town.

Santa’s “Ho Ho Ho’s” could be heard alongside Christmas carols and laughter, with all of the holiday spirit floating through the wintery air.
