TNRD Director for Area O presents funds to two Barriere non-profits

Two local organizations receive “big boost” from the TNRD grant-in-aid funding

Two discretionary grants were given to the Anti-Violence Advocates Society and the Thompson Valley Players Society on Dec. 16, by Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) Area O Director Jill Hayward.

The two non-profits are Barriere based, serving the North Thompson Valley.

Each TNRD Electoral Area has an annual budget for community Grants-in-Aid (sometimes referred to as discretionary funds). This program is intended to provide more community-focused benefits. Applications to this program can be made at any point during the year by visiting the TNRD’s website.

Director Hayward presented a $7,800 COVID-19 Safe Restart Grant to President Lynn Wright of the Anti-Violence Advocates Society.

Hayward also presented Bev Murphy, Thompson Valley Players Society president, with a discretionary Grant-In-Aid cheque for $2,500 to assist the society in purchasing portable sound equipment for their non-profit organization.
