The Lions Club of Barriere is seeking service-minded men and women in Barriere and the surrounding area to join them in making a difference in the community. Around the world, Lions are serving their neighborhoods and beyond while focusing on the five global causes of vision, hunger, the environment, childhood cancer and diabetes.
“Our club inspires members to advance worthy causes, serve with friends, and become leaders in the community. This club means a lot to our Lions, but we do what we do for the people in our community and those we serve support provincially,” said club president Dennis Farquharson.
The club will host an information session at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the Barriere Lions Hall, Borthwick Road. Light refreshments will be served. Farquharson encourages the public to come out and learn more about the club’s activities and support we provide locally and regionally.
“We want to share the impact we’re making in the community, and let others know how they can help,” said Farquharson.
The Lions International motto is “We Serve,” and the Lions Club of Barriere has lived up to it. For 57 years, the Lions Club of Barriere has organized Breakfast with Santa, the Easter Egg Hunt, served breakfasts at the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo, provided fire and medical emergency relief assistance, provided bursaries to graduates from the Barriere District Secondary School and just so much more.
