Arnold Palmer said “Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated. It satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time maddening and rewarding and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.

I have been writing this column for at least 15 years. Many of you have given me some lovely compliments and those of you who have found me irritating have been kind enough to not tell me. This is my last one.

Tuesday, September 12th may have been raining and chilly but that did not stop the 49 ladies that turned out for our 2023 windup. Missy Lusk won the Flight 1 birdie pot and Rose Seymour won the Flight 4 Chip In pot. Low Gross winners were Marla Muldoon, Terri Jones, Cory Walker, Ashley Wohlgmuth and Jen Amos. Low Net winners were Donna Salle, Deb Rainer and Deb Winiski. Gross/Net sponsors were Sundown Construction, Steve Passmore or Sun Life Financial, Kelly McNabney of TriPeaks Physio and Quality Contractors.

Pin Placements winners were Karen Peterson (Blue Moon Galeria), Anita Hill (Chad Belbin of HUB International), Karina Scott (Just U and Armour Mountain Bookkeeping), Kristin Ross (Rainer Custom Cutting), Susan Newberry (Cindy Leibel Real Estate Corp), Terri Jones (MJB Lawyers), Theresa Robinson (Stamer Logging), Glenda MacLean (Sam’s Pizza), Lorie Chambers (Station House Restaurant), Emma Schilling (Local of Louis Creek Artisan Market), Ashley Wohlgmuth (Thompson Valley Awards), Babes Shanko (Brian and Brenda Carl), Cory Walker (Campbell & Company) Lynda Dunlop (EBL Ventures), Trudy Forsythe (AG Foods), Cindy Leibel (IDA), Debbie Rainer (Barriere Motor Inn), and Betty Foote (Barriere Timber Mart). Donna Salle and Cathy McNeil won prizes from our Anonymous sponsor. Prizes from Salle Ranch and the Smiths (Barb and Carman) were unclaimed so the funds combined with Drake Cremations helped to cover the prizes for the Rest in Peace. Many many ladies (too numerous to mention) drove their balls into the gully on Hole 7.

Our Hole-in-one prizes were not claimed this year and they went on to the door prize table. Thank you to Bob Stirling, Barriere Auto Parts and Alpine Meadow Resort. Although not everyone won a pot, pin, gross or net prize we all went home with a door prize and a share of the unclaimed pot money. Chinook Cove presented a delicious cake for dessert to honour Deb Rainer and Leslie Stirling. (We certainly appreciated all the lovely comments)

Debbie Rainer talked me in to taking the position of Secretary-Treasurer 20 years ago and I had no idea we would be at it so long. My golf has deteriorated over those 20 year but the friendships have grown stronger. There has been much laughter, a few tears and some wonderful times.

Leslie Stirling - signing off and signing out.
