It’s time to get your fishing rods out, mark your calendar for this Sunday, June 5, and start preparing your youngsters to have a fish net full of fun at the Barriere Nature Kids ‘Learn To Fish Day’ at Dixon Lake.

This is a free event for kids (age four to 12 years) and their parents thanks to generous support from Go Fish BC. There is no cost to take part in the event, with organizers advising all participants will be asked to sign a waiver upon arrival.

Kick off time is 10 a.m., and all Learn To Fish activities will be taking place until 1 p.m.

“Bring your water, lunches, life jackets, cameras, etc.,” says Barriere Nature Kids rep Ceryne Staples, “Go Fish BC will be providing the fishing rods for use during the event.”

Staples notes the location of Dixon Lake is via access from Dixon Mountain Road and Dixon Creek FSR (check it out on Google Maps). Dixon lake has a dock and an outhouse on site. Staples advises folks who are planning to attend the event to go to the Barriere Nature Kids Facebook page for more information, and to please select “going” so the organizers know to expect you at the event.

“Check out our Facebook page,” added Staples, “Come learn to fish with us. on June 5.”
