Murray Purcha and grandson Danny share an end of season treat recently at the family ice cream stand following another successful season as the place to get your ice cream treat on those hot summer days and evenings during 2023.
The season this year went well into September with the Purcha’s adding a mini donut, hot dog and fries truck to the site along the front road to Highway 5 in Barriere. The pink business and apartment building is celebrating 25 years in Barriere this year.
Businesses calling Purcha’s business strip home are: Remax Real Estate, The Barriere Star/Journal, Barriere Gym and of course, Murray’s Ice Cream and Treats.
Murray often displays his collector Plymouth Fury Chrysler convertible car, along with his water fountains, flowers and usually a billowing balloon guy, drawing attention from kids and adults alike. He’s always got a smile and a story to share.
Let’s hope next summer is less smoke and more ice cream, mini donuts and blue sky for travellers on Highway 5 and residents too.
