Summertime and the livin’ is easy. Fish are jumpin’ and the cotton is high… Well, it is summertime. I don’t know anything about the fish and whether they jump or not but I do know the mosquitoes are buzzing and biting and the hay is high. The weather was great for golfing on July 12. A light breeze (perhaps a bit more than a breeze) kept the mosquitoes away but did absolutely nothing for my game. I understand that there are three things you can do to improve your golf game….take lessons, practice constantly or start cheating.
We had a great time on Tuesday night. Debbie was back from holidaying with the grand-daughters and we celebrated Barb Smith’s birthday…late but with cake thanks to her team mates. We only had 28 ladies out. I think some were afraid of the heat and the mosquitoes. Donna Salle won a big pot for her Deuce in Flight 1 and Darlene Nickull took home the Flight 4 Chip In while Anita Hill and Cheryl Ann Tenzer split the Flight 3 Chip in Pot.
Ainsley Gullage of Sun Life Financials sponsored Flight 1 gross/net with Louise Lodge scoring 42 to win low gross and Susan Newberry picking up low net with a 47 (36). Babes Shanko won low gross in Flight 2 with a 48 and Debbie Rainer took low net with a 53 (37.5). The sponsor was Kelly McNabney of TriPeaks Physio. Brian and Brenda Carl sponsored Flight 3. Mary Van Sickle won low net with a 52 and Jeannie Webber was close behind with a 53 (34) to win low net. Lisa Gough scored 59 to win low gross in Flight 4 which was sponsored by Stamer Logging. Betty Foote and Jamie Mosdell each scored 60 to win second low gross.
Most of the prizes went to the drivers. Long Drive in 2 prizes went to Susan Newberry (AG Foods), Terri Jones (Armour Mountain Office), Trish Thompson (Barriere Motor Inn) and Rose Seymour (Barriere Timber Mart). Long Drives were made by Louise Lodge (Munro’s Clothing), Debbie Rainer (HUB International) and Trish Thompson (Sam’s Pizza). KP winners were Jeannie Webber (Salle Ranch), and Donna Salle (Barb and Carman Smith) while Kayla Burian (EBL Ventures) and Marian Wallace (Quality Contractors) had KPs in 2. Long putts were made by Lisa Gough (Little Fort Subway), Jamie Mosdell (Rainer Custom Cutting) and Babes Shanko (Thompson Valley Awards). Susan Newberry had least putts with 13 while Laurel Cleland had most putts with 27.
By the time you see this we will have finished our first Fun Night but you still have time to get in on our second Fun Night which will be held Aug. 23. That Fun Night has a serious side to it as we raise funds for the Cancer Society. It is a four lady scramble with a shot gun start. Those wishing to help raise funds by gathering pledges are asked to pick up a pledge sheet from Leslie Stirling. We also hold a raffle and anyone wishing to donate a prize (something new valued at approximately $20 or more) can drop it off or give me a call and I will pick it up. I always try to beat Debbie Rainer in raising pledges so if you would like to help me do so please give me a shout.
Time is slipping by quickly. If you haven’t been out to Ladies Night we have missed you. Hope to see you at the course soon.
