The Christmas Extravaganza in Barriere will be taking place at the North Thompson Fair grounds on Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as a larger artisan and craft event this year.
“In the past this has been more like an art show and sale. We always used the Agriplex which has a limited capacity but this year we decided to expand the concept and make it a combination event for crafters, artisans and home based businesses. We are also inviting in the high school boys basketball team who will be selling Christmas trees, the Lions will be on hand with a hot dog barbecue and hot chocolate and we will have vendors from Kamloops, 100 Mile House, and Clearwater as well,” said Marie Downing, one of the organizers for the event.
There will be over 30 vendors and another ten non-profit organizations involved explains Downing. “We are excited to have such a variety of artisan attending this year who will be selling woodworking, jewelry, jams, jellies, teas, bath-bombs and handmade soaps, just to name a few. Two buildings full with everything taking place on one day. Santa will be with us to visit with the kids and bringing the spirit of Christmas to Barriere and area. Red Bridge Distillery will also be attending with their gin and vodka.”
The halls will be open for early setup on Friday, Dec. 1 from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2 the buildings will be open early starting at 8 a.m. All proceeds from a gift basket raffle will go back into the event fund for next year.
“We are really looking forward to seeing everyone out to the North Thompson Fair Grounds to enjoy this Christmas Extravaganza which will surely inspire the spirit of the holiday season for all ages,” said Downing.
