Gardeners of all ages invited to enter 2021 NT Fall Fair contests

The North Thompson Fall Fair Drive Thru scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 4, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. is excited to announce this year they will be holding three contests for area gardeners to participate in.

The North Thompson Fall Fair Drive Thru scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 4, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. is excited to announce this year they will be holding three contests for area gardeners to participate in.

There is no cost to enter, and all entries will be part of the display during the 2021 Drive Thru event at the fairgrounds.

WHEELBARROW CONTESTS:

Category 1- Harvested Vegetables - one variety or many, displayed in your wheelbarrow, lawn cart, or wagon.

Category 2 - Planted wheelbarrow: flowers, herbs, veggies; your choice, one variety or many, planted in your wheelbarrow, lawn cart, or wagon.

Ribbons will be awarded for the winning entries with the overall top prize being a new wheelbarrow donated by Bee’s Blossoms in memory of Kitty Hurdle.

Wheelbarrow Judging Criteria:

Quality of vegetables or plants.

Quantity/variety of vegetables or plants.

Decorative appearance.

SUNFLOWER CONTESTS:

Category 1 - Largest head

Category 2 - Tallest flower, stalk and head

Rules: No entry fee, and entries must be grown by the exhibitor.

LARGEST PUMPKIN CONTEST:

Category 1 - Largest Pumpkin

Entrants in the Largest Pumpkin Contest must register and pick up a Free Giant Pumpkin Plant at the North Thompson Fall Fair Tent at the Barriere or Clearwater Farmer’s Markets, or at Barriere Country Feeds. Plants will be ready for pick up

starting June 17, 2021. There is no entry fee and no charge for the started plants.

Rules: No entry fee and no charge for the pumpkin plants. Entries must be grown by the exhibitor.

Deadline to enter is Sept. 3, 4pm

Exhibits must be in place on the fair grounds in Barriere between 12 noon and 4pm, Friday, September 3, 2021.
