Family Day fun kicked off with a one-of-a-kind Nerf Blast at the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library in Barriere on Thursday, Feb. 15.

The energy-packed event took place in the library’s stacks, with kids aged 8 to 15 taking part.

The Nerf Blast included team and individual challenges such as Capture the Flag, Freeze Tag and more.

“There were 20 library patrons ranging in age from novice to seasoned library ‘Nerfers’ and they all enjoyed a lively hour of noisy fun together,” said librarian Pam Rudd. “This isn’t something you’d expect in a typical library program, and it’s become very popular with our Barriere youths.”

Rudd said the next Nerf Blast is scheduled for March 21 and is expected to be as well-attended as this pre-Family Day event was.
