Barriere was shining brightly with holiday spirit during the Christmas season, with many uplifting events taking place around town.
On Dec. 22 the Annex Thrift Shop reported a fun event: Pyjama Friday, supported by businesses such as Barriere Credit Union & Insurance, the Barriere After School Program (Judy Armstrong) and Barriere Teen Scene (Deb Sherman). Babes Shanko was the gift basket winner, and received her lovely prize basket decked out in her PJs in the spirit of the event.
The popular Christmas Light-up at the North Thompson Fairgrounds was open to the public beginning on Dec. 15, with a break for Christmas from Dec. 24–26, when it reopened until the final day on Dec. 30. The fairgrounds sparkled with light displays everywhere, and there were vendors, treats and a cozy outdoor fire-pit as holiday music floated through the air.
The Barriere Chamber sponsored the annual Community Christmas Dinner on Dec. 25 with the help of wonderful volunteers, feeding hundreds of residents in the valley from Little Fort to Heffley Creek and all points in between.
Community Spirit is the gift that keeps on giving in Barriere all year long.
