I know. I know. I know. I said last week was my last report. And I didn’t lie - I simply misspoke. I had completely forgot that I would be reporting about the Chinook Cove Club Championship that was held on Saturday, September 16th.
14 ladies took part. A whole bunch of men took part as well but they aren’t part of my reporting job. I will just say - there were a lot of them; some won and I think they all had a good time. Back to my ladies’ report. There were 14 ladies that set out to play 18 holes of golf in threesomes and foursomes. The weather was PERFECT which is nice when you are playing for hours and hours. I don’t know about the other three groups but my group laughed and laughed and laughed. I guess I was having such a great time I didn’t pay much attention to how I was golfing. Perhaps I should do that more often because I ended up golfing my best two rounds of the season.
The Low Gross winner is considered the Club Champion and the honour went to Marian Wallace this year. She had a fantastic 18 hole score of 95. I (yes, I Leslie Stirling) won Low net. My score was fairly high (108) but low for me and when the handicap (which was also high) was deducted my net score was 67. Trophies and certificates were presented to both winners by Captain Debbie Rainer.
Other winners in the low gross/low net field were: Susan Newberry (low net Flight 1), Trudy Forsythe (low gross Flight 2), Deb Rainer (low net Flight 2) and Deb Winiski (second low gross Flight 3). Long Drive winners were, Terri Jones, Babes Shanko, Deb Winiski, Susan Newberry, Debbie Rainer and Anita Hill. Long Drive in 2 winners were Susan Newberry, Babes Shanko and Leslie Stirling. KP winners were Marian Wallace, Trudy Forsythe, Leslie Stirling and Deb Rainer. KP in 2 winners were Terri Jones, Trudy Forsythe and Leslie Stirling. Long Putt winner were Marian Wallace (2), Babes Shanko, Deb Winiski, Evelyn Lucas and Anita Hill.
The day was capped off with a lovely meal served on the patio. Thanks to the great staff at Chinook Cove for making the day so enjoyable. A number of the ladies and gentlemen stayed around to take part in a Horse Race but that is something that would take some explaining so I will leave it for you to imagine.
Saturday was Debbie Rainer’s last official duty. It has been a lot of fun working with her. Thanks for doing such a great job, Deb.
